The Weekend of Parties!

Finally I have some time to sit and tell you about our busy busy weekend. Both babies are in bed at last and Rob is out with his boyfriend Jamie seeing the fireworks in Vancouver, so I have uninterrupted time to spend blogging.

Saturday night Rob and I headed out to Chilliwack to attend the 10 year reunion of Sardis Secondary School grad class of 1996 while my parents came over to take care of the kids at our place. Highschool reunions are funny things. For the most part I'm so relieved that that part of my life is over and in the past, yet it was interesting to see where some of my schoolmates are at in their lives. It was satisfying to see how mature a lot of people have become (and amazing how international my grad class is now), and really gratifying to be able to tell at least one guy honestly how terribly he had treated me back then and to have him admit it and be able to have a good laugh at ourselves. It was unfortunate that most of the people that I spent the most time with in highschool weren't there. It was also unfortunate that they had such loud music going that to find out about people you had to get in their face and yell at each other. All in all it was a fun evening with good food and friendly faces. I think we were the first to leave what was becoming a big booze fest, but we had a wedding the next day as well as a cranky baby at home. (So sorry I have no pics of us all dolled up from that night.)

On Sunday Rob's brother Jimmy married Christy. It was beautiful! See photos here. Rob had the honor of standing up as one of Jim's groomsmen and I have to say he looked migh-ty fine in his tux. As a family member we had pretty good seats right up front at the ceremony but I forgot my camera in the car. (Can you tell I'm not much of a photographer?) Ian and his cousin Colby lasted through maybe half the ceremony before getting shipped off to the nursery to play with toys, but Jayden stayed through the whole thing sitting on my lap happy as can be. After the ceremony my parents came to pick up the kids and took them to their place for the evening so Rob and I could really enjoy ourselves at the reception. (Really, grandparents are SO great!) We had so much FUN! The food was so good. Rob gave the BEST speech ever. We danced. I discovered I am a really really bad dancer, Rob may be a little better than me, but when partnered with me it was hard to tell. We stayed really late too. We picked up our boys shortly before 1am in North Van. Got to bed just after 2, Jayden woke around 6 to feed, and then Ian let us sleep til 9.(!!!) My head was only slightly fuzzy in the morning but I have a cold. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

Here's Rob speechifying and toasting the groom. Notice the basketball hoop. Ian was kind enough to lend it to the cause. Instead of tinkling glasses, if you wanted bride and groom to kiss you had to make a basket.

And here's me and MY groom. (Seriously, he was so hot that day.)

My children have been full of something that's not good the last few days. Lots of tantrums, crying, disobedience, fussiness, and general unhappiness. I'm sure it's in reaction to all the upheaval in the usual routine, which goes to show that there's a price to pay for all good times. Worth it though, because they were good good times!

:)

You guys look great!! I heard the wedding was lots of fun, and that Rob's speech was great.

It would have been fun to be there...

You guys are looking great! Sounds like a good weekend :)

And kids are always out of sorts when the routine is out of whack - you're NOT ALONE!
